I took last Friday afternoon off to spend some time in the woods bow hunting for deer. At about 4 PM I noticed a car slowly coming up my driveway. I was sitting in my treestand and from there I can see portions of my 1/4 mile long driveway. My two sons were up at the house alone...so I took out my cell phone and called them...letting them know that a strange car was coming up the driveway. The car disappeared out of sight and I heard a car door open and close and then the car turned around and started heading slowly down the driveway. I quickly got down out of my stand and started running towards the driveway. The car had stopped again and the person got out of the car. They must have heard me running through the brush because as I appeared in the driveway...the car slowly started leaving. I was in a gilly suit ( a camouflage suit with flowing leaves on it) and must have been quite a sight for driver of the car. The car was about 20 yards in front of me and continued to drive slowly back towards the road. I shouted for the car to stop...even let out a loud whistle...but the car kept on going. I did not get the license plate number...but at the last minute I realized I had my cell phone with me and pulled it out and snapped a picture of the car as it drove off down the road. I didn't think much of it...probably someone lost...or a college kid looking for someplace to have a party later that night. And I left it at that...until Sunday afternoon when I was doing some yard work. I was coming up my driveway and stopped because I noticed a pile of something laying in the driveway. I poked a stick at it and through it and discovered that it was a pile of kitty litter. Then it dawned on me that this must be exactly where the car had stopped and turned around on Friday. I then went down the driveway to the other spot that the car stopped and there it was...another pile of kitty litter. Who in the hell drives around looking for a spot to dump their kitty litter? And why, once you have found yourself off the beaten path...would you dump that litter directly on the driveway instead of moving two feet and dumping it in the woods? I immediately went up to the house and asked my wife if she had pissed anyone off in town that owned a cat. Nope. So it remains a mystery. But, I have a picture of the car...and I will be scouting around town for that car...and...I have some idea of license plate...a bunch of H's. I told the story to a friend last night...and he suggested I print something in the paper. I told him I had thought about that...but the result would probably be that more people would come and dump their kitty litter...just to have some fun with me. He said yes, I was probably right...and he could think of at least eiight of my friends that would do just that.
