Entry for November 14, 2008 - Mystery Solved...sort of...
I took today off from work to spend the last day of the archery season in the woods looking for a great big deer (I never saw him). I did take a break in the middle of the day and managed to have lunch with my wife and to get to the local hardware store to get some staples for my staple gun (need to put up more posted signs). Anyway...on the way to lunch I was looking around for that car that I spotted dumping kitty litter in my driveway...and I found it. I went to lunch and told my wife that I found the house where the car was parked and that I intended to stop at the house on my way home and inquire as to why this person was dumping kitty litter in my driveway.
So I did just that...and wouldn't you know it...the kindest of ladies opened the door...and the cutest cat you ever did see was right there by her side. I introduced myself and told the lady that I had noticed her dumping kittly litter in my driveway. She asked me where I lived...I told her...she looked a bit confused/guilty...and then she told me she was sorry...she was lost that day...actually thought my driveway was Chard road. And she told me not to worry...that the kitty litter was "clean"...no poop in it.
I was at a loss as to what to say at that point. I could have asked if it was normal for her to go to Chard road and dump kitty litter..."clean" kitty litter at that...but I just said good bye and wished her a good day...wanting to seem as kind and nice as she was being to me. She seemed like such a nice old lady...and she probably was lost...no harm intended on her part. I guess that if it is OK to throw salt over your shoulder when you spill the salt shaker...it must be OK to go out and spread some "clean" kitty litter on the roads of your town if you happen to step in your cat's litter box and spill it on the floor. Cleverness can come in many forms.
