Entry for November 18, 2008 - Food and BEER Pairing???

Last night my friend David Katleski came by my house to pick up a six-pack of vintage beer I had in my wine cellar...a 2006 Anchor Steam Christmas Ale. I have always been fond of this beer. The first time I had it was back in the 80's at an old speak easy in Manhattan called Chumleys. I was sitting in there one day just before Christmas helping the owner put up some fresh garland and getting free pints of this spectacular Christmas Ale. I have bought it every year since...and let me tell you...it is not easy to get my hands on. Anyway...David wanted to take the beer to Manhattan today to share with some folks that are doing a beer and food pairing. That got me to thinking that I had not put on my blog yet, the beer and food pairing dinner that David had invited me to at his Empire Brewing Company a few weeks ago. It was really spectacular and quite the change from the numerous wine and food dinners that I go to. David is doing a wonderful job in crafting great beer and running a fantastic brew pub/restaurant. If you have not been there yet...you need to make plans to do so. And who knows...sometime soon you may find his beer on your supermarket shelves.
