A Walk In My Shoes...
Walk with me...
Entry for February 21, 2009 - Nisbet Plantation...the end of the day.

Nisbet is such an easy place to lose track of time in. Our days start with faint rays of sunshine sneaking in between the wood-slat blinds in our room. The kids are fast asleep in the adjoining room and they don't wake as I get up and make a small pot of coffee. My wife and I take our coffee outside to the patio and watch the sun welcome us to another day in paradise. Some days I make my way up to the gym and get my fix of watching CNBC for an hour while toiling on the treadmill...other days I just stay with my wife and have another cup of coffee. When the kids get up we all shower and head down to the beach to have breakfast next to the pool. There are specials every day...but our family seems to have its favorites and the staff seems to remember what everyone wants...coconut pancakes, coconut french toast, mango pancakes, banana pancakes, omelets and the list goes on. There is a different fresh squeezed juice served every day...(today was strawberry-lime...WOW)...this is a really nice touch every morning. After breakfast, which lasts an easy hour every morning, we change into our swim suits and head to the pool and beach. Time seems to fly by and then the call of lunch echos in our empty stomachs and we head to the bar area, pull up a stool and order some light fare. Today we had pizza and nachos...pretty American fare for lunch. Then it is back to the beach and pool, followed by a mid-afternoon nap...then wake up in time to head to the patio of the great house for afternoon tea. A cup of Earl Gray along with some crumpets and finger sandwiches. After tea it is back to the pool and beach to chase the sun to the end of the day. As we tire we head to our room to shower and dress for dinner...jackets and slacks for the men (at least for the ones that remembered theirs in our family)...dresses or skirts for the ladies. We head up to the great house for a pre-dinner cocktail...and some days are entertained by someone on piano or a small steel drum based band...other days we entertain ourselves by visiting with other guests. At 7PM or so we head into the dining room for dinner...the younger kids have ordered their meals earlier in the day...the adults choose from a gourmet menu after choosing a nice bottle of wine from the more than adequate wine list at Nisbet. We have not had one bad meal here...and always end the meal with dessert. The dessert in the picture was the special on valentines day...a good indication of how Nisbet takes great care in the presentation of their food. After dinner we retire to the living room of the great house to read or watch TV (yes...there are two TV's on the property...one in the living room, one in the gym and none in the rooms you sleep in...peace on earth). By 10 PM we are all fast asleep on our room...saving up energy to do it all again the next day.
